LASER LIKE A SHOT

METAL DETECTING TREASURE GAME - SYNOPSIS

  • A square is set up on a lawn or meadow, using white stakes to mark the perimeter of the 'stage' (area) within which the treasure is located.

  • Up to 5 people can use the metal detectors at the same time. Although it is common for groups to do the treasure-hunting in pairs - thus allowing up to 10 people to particpate in one game.

  • The first group enters the 'stage' with a compass, metal detector and spade. Facing Magnetic North they exit stage left, following a trail, which eventually leads to the digging area (marked off with white stakes), within which they discover other metal finds.

  • Participants then write down on the provided guessing sheet the location of the four objects, which are named, but have to give the exact location of each.

  • The game can be repeated for up to 4 other teams, often being sent off in different directions from the 'stage'.

  • The winning group is the team that correctly guesses the exact location for the items. One of which is a cachet of coins, which is then allowed to be dug up by them and fairly distributed amongst the winning team.

WHERE?

  • This quest for hidden treasure can be done in any outdoor environment with soft ground.

  • The minimum area required for this game is approximately 25 metres x 50 metres. The bigger the area the better - a small meadow would be ideal.

  • NB: The digging is kept to a minimum, so that the premises are kept tidy, while the digging area is decided upon with the consent of the ground staff.
